model behaviour: what goes on behind the scenes

It all started with a comment on a “Like & Share” Facebook contest organised by Fox-Out, one of my favourite online stores. They were doing a collaboration with L’Oreal Professionnel Singapore and were giving away fantastic prizes. Naturally, this was not an opportunity to be missed! And so, as luck will have it, I snagged one of the 5 elusive prizes that Fox-Out x L’Oreal Professionnel Singapore were giving out.
Amongst the extensive list of prizes that I received was a photo shoot and a makeover where I would actually be photographed wearing the latest Fox-Out collection and very scarily, immortalized online. We also received full sized Mythic Oil products from L’Oreal Professionnel. Now I’ve always loved the behind-the-scenes of anything really; movies, businesses, magazines, online stores etc etc. It’s always fascinating to see the effort, blood, sweat and tears that goes into pushing out a product onto the market. Stepping into the Fox-Out photo studio felt a little bit like Charlie stepping into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. The same feeling of bewilderment, anticipation and bright shiny eyes filled with wonder.

The accessories box that every girl would die to have
Clearly a lot of thought and effort had gone into the planning of this shoot. The lovely owners of Fox-Out, Charles and Sarah, had gone through countless of sleepless nights to conceptualize and arrange everything for us to make us feel right at home. There were makeup artists on set to do our makeup, the lovely Andrea Chong who styled and taught us how to pose, tons and tons of balloons and even a fully operable popcorn machine to boot! And in my case, Charles and Sarah very kindly took into consideration that I was curvier and took pains to ensure that I would be able to fit into their clothes. All I really had to do was to show up and put my best smile forward.

The other girls were brilliant at posing though :)

To top off the spectacular night, the lovely Fox-Out owners treated us to a buffet spread. By the time it was 9 pm, I was really hungry and was happy to take off the impossibly high heels to have dinner before heading back for a last hoorah where Charles rounded off the shoot with letting loose not one, but two, confetti canons which made me partially deaf in one ear.

It was really lovely meeting everyone and making new friends. I speak for everyone when I say that I really did have a blast at the photo shoot, dancing to the music, making popcorn with the popcorn machine, digging through the accessory treasure box and trying on the clothes! I also really loved that I managed to sneak a peak into the world of online retail. One of the best features of Fox-Out is that they have this online chat function which allows you access to instant customer service. I’ve personally used it because half the time clothes from Sg online stores tend NOT to fit me so I am super grateful that Fox-Out provides honest feedback on suitability of the clothes and even styling tips.
Check out the Mythic Oil products that L’Oreal Professionnels gave me! We got to try the Nourishing Oil during the photo shoot and I swear it really works wonderfully. My hair is very dry and frizzy, so girls, fear not! The Mythic Oil range will smoothen out your hair woes and you can toss your hair like in the advertisements. I went home to test out the shampoo and conditioner and I must say my hair is so much more manageable now!
Thank you Fox-Out x L’Oreal Professionnels for this wonderful giveaway! Also, in case you were wondering, I took back the lovely green dress that I was wearing for the shoot and the peppered knit top as shown on Andrea.

Have a great week ahead everyone! Don’t forget to check out the new launch at 9 pm at Fox-Out and the wonderful lookbook they put together.
xx,
Sammie
You don’t fall in love like you fall in a hole. You fall like falling through space. It’s like you jump off your own private planet to visit someone else’s planet. And when you get there it all looks different: the flowers, the animals, the colours people wear. It is a big surprise falling in love because you thought you had everything just right on your own planet, and that was true, in a way, but then somebody signalled to you across space and the only way you could visit was to take a giant jump. Away you go, falling into someone else’s orbit and after a while you might decide to pull your two planets together and call it home. And you can bring your dog. Or your cat. Your goldfish, hamster, collection of stones, all your odd socks. (The ones you lost, including the holes, are on the new planet you found.)
And you can bring your friends to visit. And read your favourite stories to each other. And the falling was really the big jump that you had to make to be with someone you don’t want to be without. That’s it.
PS You have to be brave.
